Waterworks Park is home to the greatest frisbee golf hole in Kansas City

When Jim Kreeger and Ace Mason set out to plot the Kansas City area’s third disc course at Waterworks Park in northern Kansas City(3500 N. Oak Trafficway, Kansas City, Mo.), they came with different ideas.

“I wanted to shoot straight out south, under that gigantic oak tree on the hill that slopes off,“ Mason says. “Jim Kreeger set me straight. He says ‘We need to put it over here.’”

The first hole is where Kreeger suggested, on the crest of a hill facing south toward downtown. It’s perhaps the best view you can find of the city — not just on a frisbee golf course but anywhere. From the tee-off pad, the skyscrapers of downtown are framed by ancient trees. You can see both the Missouri and Kansas Rivers. Kansas City, Kansas, looms in the distance.

“You don’t see that view of Kansas City anywhere else,” Mason says. “It’s just an iconic view. I’m looking at it and thinking, ‘Wow, this is beautiful.’ So that became hole No. 1.”
