The Hawaiian plate lunch spot announced on Monday that they plan to open seven more locations across Kansas City and seven in Texas.
Hawaiian Bros owners and brothers Cameron and Tyler McNie brought knowledge from their Oregon family business, Hawaiian Time, to open the first Hawaiian Bros in Belton, Missouri, in 2017. When we talked to them back in 2019, they had just opened their Overland Park location and said that they were committed to making their business grow and expand all across the Midwest. Now, it looks like they have succeeded in doing just that and more.
“Our fresh, flavorful food—and friendly Aloha spirit–is resonating with guests who are searching for something unique,” Hawaiian Bros President Scott Ford said in a news release. “At Hawaiian Bros, we love what we do, so we’re excited to see our passion catch on across the country.”
Here are the new Hawaiian Bros locations and when they’re set to open:
- Shawnee on March 16th
- Ward Parkway in early May
- Independence in early June
- Midtown in July
- Lenexa in July
- Overland Park in August
- Metro North towards the end of this year
We covered Hawaiian Bros and their standout kalua pork in 2019. “I was a little nervous when we started this, to do barbecue,” Cameron McNie told Kansas City. “The teriyaki, the chicken—that’s different than a lot of people are doing out here, so I thought that would be a hit. The pork I was really worried about because it’s like, ‘Man, barbecue is such a big thing in the Midwest. Pulled pork is everywhere. Are people going to like our version of it?’ And people have loved it—and they’ve loved our barbecue sauce. So we were really, really excited about the response to that.”
