The creators of some of KC’s most upscale and trendy bars are opening a new establishment – except this one will be a full service restaurant inspired by fifteenth century Florence.
Bar Medici is expected to open this November in the Crossroads (1800 Walnut St. Suite 100, KCMO) and is the sister business to high-end cocktail joints like The Mercury Room and Verdigris. A full bar menu with wine, beer, and, of course, cocktails will be featured, but Medici’s menu is taking its inspiration from Southern Italy and the Mediterranean.
“Unlike our other concepts, we will be offering a full lunch, dinner, and brunch menu. We will also offer coffee, tea, and gelato,” says Amanda Williams of Exit Strategy, the hospitality management group that owns the new restaurant.
The upscale and trendy bars Mercury Room, Verdigris and Bar Medici are all owned by Exit Strategy, a hospitality management group. The group also runs The Monarch Bar. We dubbed The Mercury Room as the Crossroads’ Swankiest New Bar in 2021.
“Differing from The Monarch and The Mercury Room, Medici will carry a slightly more casual approach, similar to Verdigris,” Williams says. “The cocktails are curated to pair with small plates and food, versus highlighting solely cocktails.”
The new restaurant will be located in the Reverb luxury apartments in the same building as The Mercury Room, another one of the group’s bars, but fourteen floors below on ground level.
Bar Medici is being designed by Manica Architecture, who also created The Mercury Room’s dazzling interior. Inspired by the Medici family, the restaurant will feature the window arches of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence and the dots from the Medici family crest.
