Kansas City’s new five-star hotel has an official opening date this summer

A long-awaited five-star hotel will open as the city starts to slowly make its way back to normal following the coronavirus pandemic.

Loews Hotels & Co. has announced that it will officially open on June 1. Before the pandemic, the eight hundred-room Loews Hotel broke ground at 16th and Wyandotte Streets in March 2018 and had originally planned to open on April 2.

“While our opening plans look a bit different than we had originally anticipated, there is no better time to open our doors and introduce Kansas City to Loews, than when KC prepares to get back to business,” the hotel stated in a press release. The company adds that the safety and that new measures will be taken to maintain a safe environment, with more details coming around the official opening date.

Some local hotels, like Adam’s Mark near the stadiums and the Crossroads Hotel, have closed their doors indefinitely. The Raphael Hotel on Country Club Plaza has adapted to changes by renting out private office suites.
