Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas issued a proclamation declaring a state of emergency in Kansas City this morning. Under the authority of this proclamation, all city events with more than one thousand attendees are canceled or delayed until the emergency has been lifted. This state of emergency has been issued for an initial period of twenty-one days.
A case of COVID-19 in a Johnson County woman was confirmed on Saturday. According to the Kansas City Star, three new cases of the virus were confirmed in Johnson County this morning. Health officials say that these cases are all men who recently traveled to Florida for a conference.
