Patrick Mahomes and other Chiefs stars serve dinner for Tyrann Mathieu’s foundation

The Honey Badger and eleven of his teammates traded out jerseys for aprons or a good cause on Saturday night.

Chiefs players including stars Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill gathered at the Westin at Crown Center for a Celebrity Waiters Dinner to support teammate Tyrann Mathieu’s namesake foundation, which works to aid Kansas City’s financially disadvantaged youth.

Donors started the night on the red carpet and moved onto a social hour, where they had the chat with the football players. After guests sat down, emcee and Fox 4 anchor John Holt took the stage to speak with Mathieu about his foundation.

“I first came up with the idea to put computers into Boys and Girls Clubs and low income schools to help kids do their homework,” Mathieu told Holt. “It gives them the right to apply for jobs, too, because applications for the world are so technology-driven. A lot of these kids can’t afford thousand dollar computers. I’m hoping that they can walk into that room, find some potential and find some hope.”

Holt proceeded to bring the rest of the players to the stage to Tech N9ne’s “Red Kingdom” and the beat of the tomahawk chop. Players were whisked into the kitchen where they were given red aprons with the name of the event and the sponsors printed on them. The players then made their ways back out onto the floor to serve food, pour wine and mingle with donors. Guests were quick to take advantage of selfies with the apron-studded players.

The night ended in a live auction filled with signed football memorabilia and time spent on the dance floor.
