Exclusive: Unique Super Bowl photos from Kansas City magazine’s photographer

The Chiefs won the Super Bowl in Miami on Sunday. But you already know that.

The come-from-behind win over the San Francisco Forty-Niners wasn’t short on fireworks, with QB Patrick Mahomes completing a series of clutch passes to seize the lead then and put the Niners out of their misery.

For the second time in a decade, the Forty-Niners have lost a Super Bowl.

For the second time in three years, Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan has presided over an epic fourth-quarter collapse. While this loss to the Chiefs may not have been as brutal as the Patriots comeback from a 28-3 deficient in 2017, this time he’s the head coach instead of the offensive coordinator.

The actual game in the first Chiefs Super Bowl appearance in fifty years was universally praised by viewers, a tight game with big offensive plays made for a comeback and an eminently watchable (if controversial) halftime show by Shakira and Jennifer Lopez.

After the game, President Donald Trump congratulated Kansas—and then later Missouri but not Kansas—on the win.

And through it all, Kansas City magazine photographer Jeremey Theron Kirby was snapping away.

Jeremey Theron Kirby flew to Miami for the game and was a credentialed photographer, documenting this amazing game for readers back home. His photos capture a unique view of the event you’ll remember for the rest of your life. Be sure to pick up the March edition of Kansas City magazine to see these photos and more on high-gloss paper.
