With the coronavirus pandemic looming and constraints on large gatherings of people, churches across the country are turning to online streams of Easter services.
Gather around the TV with family and tune into one of these virtual church services on Sunday.
While the philosophy of the United Church of Christ is progressive, this church in Brookside feels like a traditional Protestant service, with classic hymns set to a pipe organ and a choir. This year’s Easter sermon is titled ‘Hungry for Joy’.
This community-oriented church in Hanover Heights takes its service online. If you missed out on the Palm Sunday and Maundy Thursday services, you can still stream those on the church’s website along with Daily Devotions with Pastor Mark.
Life.Church changed the worship game when they created an online church community, offering streamable sermons multiple times a day and one-on-one virtual meetings with pastors. Virtually gather with thousands of people for their Easter Sunday service.
The Victorian-Gothic Episcopal church on the outskirts of downtown has been around since 1857, but its outlooks are fresh and new. The church has been extremely active with Holy Week service streaming, which will continue through the weekend.

This beautiful historic church on Ward Parkway church is affiliated with the Disciples of Christ and named for its location in the Country Club district, but stresses that while its name “evokes exclusivity” it is “far from an exclusive club.” Stream their Easter service and, although it’s more striking in person, you can view images of and read about the church’s Last Supper Sculpture on their website.
