Sweet Comforts

Sweet Combforts & Wingman Kitchen

Chicken and waffles strike again—this time with two different concepts combining. Sweet Combforts puts Belgian waffles on a stick, drizzles them with any combination of candy toppings and markets these sugar bombs to every influencer within flash range. (Seriously, these pretty treats became Insta-famous at Coachella in 2017.) Wingman Kitchen makes chicken in eight flavors, from lemon pepper to “flamin’ good.” Sweet Combforts & Wingman Kitchen is open in the former Doughnut Lounge space in Westport.

4117 Westport Road, KCMO. Open 11 am-1 am Tuesday–Sunday. Closed Mondays.

Crepe KC

Crepe KC

Kansas City is crepe-crazy lately, and there’s a tasty new spot in the Northland. Sandra Zuercher grew up on the crepes cooked by her Romanian mother, Buni Nutsi. Crepe KC is an ode to her mother, serving her family’s recipe with an array of sweet and savory stuffing. There are the classic dessert crepes—a Nutella-banana combination, strawberries and cream, lemon and blueberry reduction—and some creative lunch and dinner crepes like the caprese and the BLT.

7711 N. Oak Trafficway, KCMO. Open 2-7 pm Tuesday-Thursday, 2-9 pm Friday, 8 am- 3 pm Saturday. Closed Sunday and Monday. crepekc.com

Pairing

The Pairing Crossroads Wine & Grocer

Wine and cheese, meat and beer—we were meant to enjoy these things together. Mat “Slimm” Adkins and Jeff Jones understand that well, which is why they co-founded The Pairing in the Crossroads. This combination liquor store, specialty grocery and craft bar offers guests a curated selection of booze, artisan cheese and cured meats. Perhaps the most intriguing items in the mix are the vegan proteins and cheeses: mushroom jerky, vegetable pâté and vegan deli cheese slices.

1615 Oak St., KCMO. Open 11 am-10 pm Tuesday-Thursday, 11 am-11 pm Friday-Saturday, 11 am-8 pm Sunday.

South of Summit

South of Summit Taqueria & Tequila

Andy Lock and Domhnall Molloy—the restaurateurs behind Summit Grill, Third Street Social, Boru Ramen Bar, Pearl Tavern and Lakewood Local—have added another concept to their burgeoning portfolio. South of Summit Taqueria and Tequila opened inside the large private dining space next to Summit Grill in Waldo with street tacos, tortas and ceviche.

516 W. 75th St., KCMO. Open 11 am-10 pm Monday-Thursday, 11 am-11 pm Friday and Saturday, 11 am-9 pm Sunday. southofsummit.com
