It’s not often that an offensive lineman upstages an NFL quarterback, and when he does, it’s usually for an undesirable reason.
But the Chiefs’ right tackle does have bragging rights over league MVP Patrick Mahomes in one important arena: His dog is a far bigger star on Instagram.
Mahomes’ two pit bulls, Steel and Silver, have just 65,000 followers on their account (@steel_silver_mahomes). Meanwhile, Cupcake (@cupcake.the.pom), the fluffy little Pomeranian owned by teammate Mitchell Swartz, has 110,000 followers.
Cupcake is about the size and shape of a guinea pig and is undeniably adorable. Above all, Cupcake gets around a lot — follow the fluffy little pooch’s account to see him sitting on Santa’s lap in Leawood, promoting Leinenkugel in the Power & Light District and snuggling up in a wicker basket by the fireplace at home in Overland Park.
Cupcake is the most followed dog in the KC area, as far as we can tell — and also upstages daddy as an influencer, since Swartz himself has only 24,600 followers.
