Whether you’re looking for a caffeine-based pick me up or something to take the edge off with friends after work, these coffeeshop bars specialize in day to night sipping.

Café Corazon (110 Southwest Blvd. KCMO)

Café Corazón is known for its Latin flavored coffee drinks, such as churro atole lattes and café de ollas. Earlier this summer, the Crossroads locations added cocktails, beer and wine to their menu and, staying on brand, they’re all Latin-inspired. Sangria, bloody Marias, palomas, and the Brazilian-inspired Drunken Samba cocktail are just a few options for guests who are wanting to stray from their usual coffee order.

The family owned coffeeshop was intentional with choosing spirits, wines and beers that are from Latin-owned companies. Their happy hour is a real treat (Monday – Friday: 3PM-6PM) – a tamale and beer combo for $6 or wine and empanadas for $11.

The large vibrant space is ideal for whatever mood you’re in. Enjoy a mocha Azteca while studying or Chilean red wine to end the work day. If the weather is participating, they’ll even open the large garage door and let the breeze flow through the whole shop.

Goat & Rabbit (1804 W. 39th st. KCMO)

This Midtown spot does things differently than the others on this list. It’s more bar than coffeeshop which means it doesn’t open until 4PM during the week (although it opens at 9 AM on the weekends). It’s a dimly lit joint and behind the bar counter is a wall of spirits that require a ladder to get reach. But a short and sweet coffee menu with the basics – espressos, americanos, lattes, etc. – are available for those who need a late day pick me up.

The craft cocktail menu is extensive and hilarious with names like Pretty Fly For A Mai-Tai and Pop It Like It’s Hawt, a papaya and mango margarita with popping candy. Goat and Rabbit is also rumored to have one of the best espresso martinis in the city. Happy hour is Monday through Friday 4PM – 6PM and Sunday 4PM – 10PM.

Front Range Coffeehouse and Provisions (2718 W. 53rd st. Fairway, KS & 400 E. Gregory Blvd. KCMO)

With locations in Waldo and Fairway, both Front Range coffeeshops come with full-service bars and plenty of café eats like Parisi breakfast sandwiches and chorizo burritos. The shop is inspired by the mountains with wood paneled walls, deep forest green accents and deer mounts. No matter the time of day, its cozy relaxed vibe can be enjoyed with beverages of all kinds whether it be a frothy cappuccino, iced hibiscus lemonade or lime-garnished margarita.

Guests can enjoy the bar menu at any time. The cocktail menu changes seasonally but current summer libations including a strawberry mint mule, rosemary mint julep, a cherry vanilla float and spicy margarita.

Post Coffee Company (3550 Broadway Blvd KCMO)

Post Coffee Company has shops all around the metro but the midtown location (formerly Monarch Coffee) on Broadway recently introduced a bar menu with a daily happy hour.

The bar program was curated by The Mercury Room’s Levi Roye. Aperol spritzes and mimosas grace the menu, but there are a few with a caffeinated twist like the cold brew martini and a negroni with coffee liqueur. The Ruby Jean’s mimosa (available only on Saturdays and Sundays) is a fruity blend of Gigi Splash Juice from Ruby’s (strawberries, orange juice, apple, lemon, pear and pineapple) and bubbles.

Happy hour is from 4 – 6 p.m. daily and includes $5 beers, $7 wines and $9 cocktails. Homemade pastries and traditional café eats like burritos can be enjoyed with a coffee while the goat cheese and fig dip and charcuterie board make for a well-rounded happy hour.

“[Post Coffee Company] serves both coffee and bar drinks all day because we never know when you have a day off!” says owner Katie Holland.

Outta the Blue (5291 W. 116th Place Leawood, KS)

If Front Range has a cabin-in-the-woods aesthetic, then consider Outta the Blue its surfer hang-loose-vibes sister business. Surfboards, pops of greenery and swing seating (yes, like the ones you’d typically see hanging from a tree) make this location fun, breezy and full of beverage options to boot.

Cereal milk lattes and coco-ccinos (frozen blended drinks) are unique caffeinated options. The drink menu reflects its beachy interior with tropical concoctions like the Hawaiian, a bright blue drink made of rum, blue curaçao, pineapple, lime and coconut, and pina coladas. The wine menu includes several orange wines for those who have never tried them before.
