►Homecoming: A Film By Beyoncé: Coachella seems pretty washed these days. But the millennial-driven music festival in the California desert still has its special moments, such as Beyoncé’s headlining appearance in 2018. This Netflix original documentary delves into everything about that 2018 set, a watershed moment in a career rich in both accomplishments and hits.
►Kim’s Convenience : The play-turned-sitcom Kim’s Convenience is back for its third season on Netflix. This lighthearted show features a predominantly Asian cast and follows a family of Korean immigrants, capturing how generational differences play out in daily life. The quirky and dysfunctional Kim family leaves you with moments of laughter, tension and sentimentality.

►Labrinth, Sia & Diplo Present…LSD: You heard the earworm “Thunderclouds” on a cell phone commercial; now you should hear the full-length from this electro-pop project made up of English singer-producer Labrinth, Australian pop singer Sia, and American superproducer Diplo (of M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes” and two songs on Beyoné’s Lemonade). The album is being released six months late, and the group seems to have spent that time making more and more bangers.
Guest List (Four Kansas Citians who we’d love to sit down with for a long chat this month)-
►Sly James: After eight years as mayor of Missouri’s largest city, Mayor James was forced out by term limits. The sometimes prickly James was never particularly guarded in his commentary, but we bet he’d have even more to say now that he’s moving on.
►Adalberto Mondesí: This young Kansas City infielder has been the star of the early Royals season. Mondesí is only 23 and has played just a half season in the majors, but he looks to be exactly the type of five-tool player the club can rebuild a championship team around.
►Alissia Canady: The third-place finisher in the Kansas City mayor’s race, councilwoman Canady won’t be going to the championship bout. Her campaigncaptured a lot of attention and the endorsement of the Kansas City Star. We’re excited to see what’s next for Canady.
►Joe Bisogno: Turns out the owner of Mr. Goodcents subs is one Kansas’ main advocates for legalized hemp and CBD, which he calls a “pot of gold for Kansas farmers” that could stop the brain drain of rural Kansas. A recent story in The Pitch detailed this, plus his efforts to make hemp cookies and grillable hemp pizza.
