Kansas City magazine offers three-month editorial internships year-round. Internships are hands-on and involve a variety of responsibilities as well as the opportunity to regularly interact with the editorial staff.
Primary duties include fact-checking stories, writing shorter stories and contributing research to larger stories and feature packages. Interns also enter descriptions for the monthly calendar and listings sections and write web exclusives for kansascitymag.com.
We offer an honorarium of $250 per month. Interns are expected to work approximately 20 hours per week. However, Kansas City magazine is currently fully remote, and we ask interns to work 20 hours on a flexible schedule, aside from a weekly one-hour meeting.
Please note that we can only accept applicants who are enrolled in an educational institution where they will receive school credit for completing an internship.

Primary duties include basic page layout assignments for front and back of book, image research and creation of web and marketing materials. Interns work closely with the art director and attend editorial meetings where they are encouraged to share creative ideas.

Kansas City magazine offers three-month, part-time internships for those seeking to gain magazine marketing experience.
This person will work closely with the sales and marketing team to assist with marketing initiatives, promotions, events and sponsorships for the magazine. This intern will also help draft proposals, attend staff meetings and learn the ins and outs of sales and marketing. This internship provides a professional environment that allows interns to work side-by-side with an award-winning editorial and sales staff.
