Local chocolatier Christopher Elbow has sold Fairway Creamery, his popular ice cream shop in the Johnson County city from which it takes its name.

Fairway Creamery opened in 2019 at 5938 Mission Road in Fairway and is home to both fresh doughnuts and house-churned ice cream flavored with fresh seasonal ingredients and addictive dipped soft-serve.

Elbow has sold the company to a team of Shonda Warner, Ali Shirazi and Stephanie Shirazi. “Shonda Warner of Chess Ag Capital and Farmacopia Farms has long-standing ties to Kansas City,” says in a release emailed to Kansas City when we asked about rumors of the sale.

Ali and Stephanie Shirazi ran the Westside Cafe and Shiraz Restaurant for many years. Elbow has known them for a long time—he got his start working in the kitchen above Shiraz Restaurant.

“Christopher Elbow remains an advisor to Fairway Creamery and his
products will continue to be an enormous influence,” says the release. “Fairway Creamery is under new ownership but retains the same commitment to excellence that makes it an experience to remember.”

This gives Elbow more time to concentrate on another product our writers are excited about: His best-in-class cannabis-infused bonbons.
