For those of you who thought Chuck E. Cheese’s novelty had long worn off – think again. A fourth one recently opened in the former Peter Piper Pizzeria in Ward Parkway Center.
The Peter Piper Pizzeria (8809 State Line Road) closed unexpectedly in late June after a year of operations, however its kid-centric pizzaria replacement was already in the works. Peter Piper’s parent-company CEC Entertainment LLC, Irving, Texas, switched it out for its Chuck E. Cheese concept. It also has Chuck E. Cheese locations in Independence, the Northland, Olathe and Overland Park.
The menu includes pizza (of course), various appetizers, salads, Buddy V’s cakes, cookies, cotton candy and colorful Unicorn churros. Its “Grown Up Menu” features saucy meatballs (sweet chili sauce, spicy Korean sauce, or Buffalo barbecue sauce).
It has everything you remember as a kid – arcade and video games, an interactive dance floor, large format video wall and screens with audio throughout.
Hours are 11 am to 9 pm, Mondays through Thursdays; 10 am to 9 pm, Fridays and Saturdays; and 11 am to 8 pm, Sundays.
Peter Piper Pizzeria, an “eatertainment” restaurant, specialized in hand-tossed, stone-baked pizzas, wings, salads, wine and beer. It also had arcade games, and TVs streaming live sports. Its first area location opened in Olathe (15139 W. 119th St.) in March 2023. But it closed in late fall, according to a spokeswoman.
The Ward Parkway space was previously home to Hurts Donut Co.
Other operations in the Restaurant Pavilion, on Ward Parkway Center’s southend, are Charleston’s Restaurant, Hawaiian Bros Island Grill, Nick the Greek, Smitty’s Garage Burgers & Beer and Torchy’s Tacos.
