Raygun
In Motown, the shirts say “Detroit vs Everybody.” In the Buckeye State, it’s “Ohio Against the World.”
Thanks to Raygun, Kansas City has its own appropriate riff: “Kansas City Loves Everybody.”
Hard to get more KC than that.
Charlie Hustle makes many of our favorite spirit shirts, but we have to tip our hat to Raygun (1803 Baltimore Ave., Kansas City, Mo. 816-800-0990, raygunsite.com), a 3,000-square-foot store in the Crossroads that founder Mike Draper opened after college. “I had no viable options for a career, so I decided to start designing T-shirts in Des Moines, and everything grew from there,” he says. “It was insanely local. I thought even expanding to south Des Moines was a stretch.”
Draper was the one who designed the “Kansas City Loves Everybody” shirt after he saw the “Detroit vs Everybody” one and wanted to take a nicer spin on the concept. Expect to see more of the shirts around town, as Raygun recently fulfilled a large order for the visitor’s bureau.
