Beloved KC Daiquiri Shop Announces Closure

KC Daiquiri Shop

Owners of KC Daiquiri Shop in the Power & Light District (1116 Grand St.) took to Instagram yesterday, announcing they will shutter the bar’s doors on Dec. 1. The post cites “slow economy, challenges with local and state government, and ongoing legal battles with neighboring businesses,” as the reasons for closing.

Followers took to the comment section to mourn the news and reminisce on the community KC Daiquiri Shop inspired.

“You’ve def created a community for me while I was in Kansas City!” one user commented.

For the past six years, KC Daiquiri Shop has offered boozy slushies inspired by a popular Dallas spot called The Daiquiri Shoppe. During the pandemic, the bar took advantage of selling alcoholic beverages to-go, offering half and full gallons of their tropical icy concoctions.
