As of this weekend, a Cousins Maine Lobster food truck is a permanent fixture in KC.

You may have heard of the Portland, Maine-based franchise before. Owners (and cousins) Sabin Lomac and Jim Tselikis pitched it on ABC’s investor reality show Shark Tank in 2012. The pair’s dream to share their local Maine family traditions was a success and they walked out with a $55,000 investment from real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran. According to The Star, as of today, the franchise has food trucks and a handful of full-service restaurants in over 40 cities.

The grand opening of KC’s Cousins Maine Lobster food truck will take place this Saturday, July 20 from 11 am to 5 pm at Cinder Block Brewery (110 E. 18th Ave., NKC).

The food truck serves two versions of Maine’s quintessential sandwich – the lobster roll. The Maine Roll keeps it classic for the purists with chilled wild-caught Maine lobster, mayo and a lemon wedge stuffed in a New England roll. The Connecticut Roll has similar ingredients but is served warm and subs butter for mayo.

“When you’re eating at Cousins Maine Lobster, you’re getting a true Maine experience,” Lomac told The Star. “Kansas Citians are in for a treat, that’s for sure.”

England clam chowder, lobster bisque, a lobster tail with tots and whoopie pies are also on the menu.

After the grand opening, the Cousins Maine Lobster truck will be traveling around KC. On July 21, the truck will be posted up at Casual Animal Brewing (110 E. 18th Ave.) from noon to 7 pm. The best way to keep updated with the truck’s schedule is to follow along on their Facebook page.
