Your local guide to Superbowl treats and game day eats

As Kansas City anxiously awaits to see our beloved Chiefs on the big screen this weekend, our local creators and businesses have been busy whipping up food and drinks to help us celebrate the big day. From red and gold bagels to sugar cookies decorated with portraits of the Kelce brother’s mom, we’ve rounded up these game-day treats and Chiefs-themed eats to help you settle into the team spirit until we hear those sweet words, “TOUCHDOWN, KANSAS CITY!”

Dolce Bakery

This baked-from-scratch Italian bakery in the Prairie Village shopping center offers a wide variety of game day desserts. Chiefs confetti cookies, red and gold ‘Kelce Bowl’ cakes, and Patrick Mahomes sugar cookies are just a few of the dazzling treats available. Place your preorders by Feb. 8.

Yoli Tortilleria

Elevate your Superbowl party with tortilla chips from the James Beard nominee for Outstanding Bakery in the country, Yoli Tortilleria. The homemade tortilla chips (or totopos) are made with heirloom yellow and red corn that result in a color pairing fit for any Chiefs fan. Located in the Westside, the chips are available for pick up in store.

Mr. D’s Donuts

The local vintage donut shop located in based in Shawnee, offer Chiefs-themed donuts, some with the likeliness of Patrick Mahomes with chocolate shavings for his hair, and others with the arrowhead symbol, or gameday jersey. These specialty donuts will sell out quick so don’t forget to place your preorders by noon, Feb 11 by phone.

Italian Sausage Company

The Gladstone based sandwich shop has outdone themselves with the ideal Superbowl Party deli sandwich, The Jabroni. The three-foot-long sub can feed up to fifteen to eighteen people and dressed as sandwiches from their regular menu such as the oh-so-popular #7, #3, #9, or #10 for $87.15. Place your preorder by Feb. 9. 

Keep an eye out for their collaboration, the #71, with Mitch Schwartz, the former Chiefs offensive tackle. Inspired by Mitch’s Jewish heritage, the sandwich is loaded with one pound of local pastrami and wagyu corned beef with smear of kosher stone ground mustard on rye bread. It’s served with Mitch’s favorite kosher half-sour New York dill pickle with a portion of the proceeds going to Mitchell’s foundation Que For A Cause.

Bliss Chocolatier

The Blue Springs-based chocolate shop is offering a nine-piece $25 Big Game bonbon collection full of red and gold speckled chocolates sure to satisfy any die-hard Chiefs fan. Flavors include Lemon Meringue and Cherry Cheesecake. Pick up in-store or order online to send as a gift.

KC Cookie Gal

The custom cookier became a sensation in 2021 with her intricately designed sugar cookies that feature portraits of your favorite players like Mahomes, Kelce, and coach Andy Reid. Luckily, the cookies are just as delicious as they are works of art and this time around, one special cookie will portray the Kelce brother’s mom, Donna, in her Chiefs/Eagles jersey. KC Cookie Gal, Mary Harness, will be popping up at Pink Antler in Town Center Feb. 11 from 12-2pm and are sure to sell out. 

Elvira’s

Elvira’s Mexican style bakery will be baking her most popular dessert, conchas, but in the Chiefs style. Conchas are traditional Mexican sweet bread rolls with a crackled, seashell-like topping. While Elvira’s conchas are sold is various colors, the uncommon red concha is making an appearance in hopes of bringing home a Chiefs victory.

McLains Bakery

With bakery’s located all around town (Shawnee, Waldo, Overland Park, and Lawrence) you’re sure to find your Superbowl party treats at McLain’s. From sets of KC Wolf cupcakes to Chiefs cookie cakes and butter cookies, you’ll need to preorder your desserts as each location offers different items. The popular KC Wolf Cake is exclusively offered at their Waldo location.

Meshuggah Bagels

If you’re wanting to stray away from the usual sweets, Meshuggah’s red and gold bagels are a great way to stand out from the crowd. The multicolored bagels are available Feb. 10-12 at all store locations. For preorders, call your desired location by Feb. 8. 

Parisi Coffee

Begin Superbowl morning with Parisi’s Take It BaKC coffee blend featured in their limited-edition drink, the KC-tado, a cortado with melted ruby chocolate and dried raspberry powder. The coffee blend is available in whole beans at both Overland Park and Union Station locations. Flavor notes include “hard work, determination, and perserverance.”
