Last week, Vested Coffee took to Instagram to announce the closing of both the Beacon Hill and Garment District locations and many loyal customers made comments mourning the loss of their beloved coffee shops. But there might be hope. A recent post update is now stating that the Beacon Hill site will remain open.

“We are working out the details and will keep you posted when we know more!” notes the Instagram post. “Our Garment location will still be closing on the 23rd.”

Susan and Nolan Dees opened Vested Coffee in 2019 serving Arkansas-based Onyx Coffee Lab brews. The social media post did not state why Vested decided to close both their locations, however, according to an interview with The Kansas City Star, the owners “could not agree on terms that would make it financially viable for Vested’s future” when negotiating their lease.

While the Garment location (310 8th St., KCMO) is still on track to close on December 23, the Dees hope to keep their Beacon Hill location (2501 Troost Ave., KMCO) open for the foreseeable future.

“The owners of the building [on Beacon Hill] were really wanting us to stay open,” Dees told The Star. “So we are communicating with them right now about what that could look like and if it’s a possibility. We plan to share as soon as we have more conversations with them and final decisions.”
