Looking for a place to watch the solar eclipse other than your yard? Here are 5 KC spots.

The solar eclipse will peak at 1:54 pm, when 89% of the sun will be covered by the moon. It begins at 12:37 pm and will end at 3:11 pm. Protective glasses and indirect viewing devices are a must to protect your eyes.

Astronomical Society of Kansas City 

  • Location: Powell Observatory, 26500 Melrose Street., Louisburg. 
  • Time: 11 am to 4 pm.

Chicken N Pickle

  • North Kansas City and Overland Park Locations: 1761 Burlington St., North Kansas City, and 5901 W. 135th St., Overland Park. 
  • Time: 12:30-3:15 pm.

Legends Watch Party

  • Location: The Lawn at the Legends Outlets, 1865 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas.
  • Time: Noon to 3 pm. 

A volunteer NASA ambassador will be on site to talk and answer questions about the solar eclipse.

Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City

  • Time: 1:15 pm – 2:15 pm. 
  • Location: Heritage 5801 West 115th Street Overland Park, KS 6621.

Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens 

  • Location: 8909 W 179th St Overland Park, KS 66013
  • Time: 1:15 pm – 2:15 pm.
