Popular Crossroads sports bar goes North

When “elevated” sports bar Streetcar Grille & Tavern opened in the Crossroads more than five years ago, the name was fitting.

The owners wanted to set it apart by emphasizing its location by a streetcar stop.

Now they are expanding to the Northland, far from the streetcar, but expect the now established concept’s “reputation and following” to bring customers.

Streetcar Grille & Tavern is scheduled to open Oct. 28 at 8340 N. Broadway, across from Metro North Crossing.

“We have great partners invested, and continue to hire great staff and treat them like family. And we continue to offer a great product that people love,” says John Glenn, operating partner. “We want to be the best sports bar and grill in the area. That’s our goal.”

The menu includes specialty burgers such as the River Market with barbecue brisket, cheddar, and crispy onion straws. Its Twisted Grilled Cheese has pepper jack, cheddar, and horseradish chive cheese, jalapeno jam, and fried cheese curds. It also has salads such as a grilled salmon Greek with housemade avocado dressing, a variety of macaroni and cheese dishes, and chicken and waffles.

Appetizers include Buffalo chicken potato skins, brisket or chorizo nachos, and bao buns stuffed with gochujang fried chicken.

It has daily specials including $12 burgers with fries on Mondays ($14 for signature burgers). It also has brunch Saturdays and Sundays.

The new location will have 22 beers on tap and two J.Rieger & Co. cocktails.

Hours will be 11 am to 11 pm, Mondays through Thursdays; 11 am to 1 am, Fridays; 10 am to 1 am. Saturdays; and 10 am to 11 pm, Sundays.

The Crossroads restaurant opened in 2019 at 1580 Main St.

As for future expansion in the metro?

“That’s always an option,” Glenn says.
