Thanksgiving is just around the corner and if you’d rather leave the baking to the pros, Kansas City has plenty of options. From restaurant-driven classics to small-batch bakery favorites, these four local spots are offering standout pies for pick-up this holiday season.
Rye (10551 Mission Rd., Leawood, KS, 4646 Mill Creek Pkwy., KCMO, ryekc.com)
Rye is offering its annual lineup of handcrafted Thanksgiving pies from award-winning pastry chef Megan Garrelts. Pies are available for pre-order through Sunday, November 23.
Pie options include pumpkin, Dutch apple, MoKan, banana cream and chocolate cream. You can also add on an order of Rye’s signature cinnamon rolls. Place your pre-order and view pick-up information here for the Plaza and here for the Leawood location.
Mo’ Pie (7956 Lee Blvd., Leawood, KS, mopieco.com)
Mo’ Pie, a locally beloved pie pop-up, made a splash recently when owner Curt Lafferty announced the opening of his brick-and-mortar in Leawood (7956 Lee Blvd., Leawood, KS). For the holiday season, the Lafferty and his team will operate from the new space in pop-up fashion: customers can place orders online and pick them up at the storefront.
Lafferty says demand for Thanksgiving pies has already surpassed expectations. Favorites like chocolate-bourbon pecan, pumpkin, French silk and Turtle pies are all on the menu this year. Pre-orders are available for pickup Nov. 24–26, and Lafferty recommends ordering early to secure pies for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.
