KC’s Black Restaurant Week isn’t over yet. The annual two-week (Sept 10 – 24) event showcases over twenty of KC’s black-owned establishments with several offering special deals.
Now in its fourth year, KC’s Black Restaurant Week has a few local favorites participating like Gates Bar-B-Q, Ruby Jean’s Juicery and more.
Unlike KC Restaurant Week, which takes place at the beginning of each year, Black Restaurant Week features catering services, food trucks and products in addition to traditional restaurants.
Wah Gwan (6228 Troost Ave. KCMO), a participating Jamaican and Nigerian restaurant, was listed in our Top New Restaurants Of 2021. Niche businesses such as KC Mac N’ Co. (1111 Petticoat Lane KCMO), which serves loaded mac n’ cheese dishes, and TCS Fully Loaded, a baked potato food truck, should not be missed.

According to the campaign’s website, this event was founded in 2016 and is “dedicated to celebrating the flavors of African-American, African, and Caribbean cuisine nationwide. “
