Back Row: (L to R) Zach Mark, Anna Mark, Jacob Mark. Front Row: (L to R) Keith Mark, Leah Burkhead
Since 1992, Mark & Burkhead has passionately represented blue-collar workers. The firm focuses on workers’ compensation cases and personal injury litigation, including auto accidents; slip, trip and fall cases; and products liability.
Senior partner Keith Mark is the son of a union electrician, and his grandfathers were a union carpenter and a union autoworker. He is cut from the same cloth as the clients he serves. “I’ve always had a wrong-side-of-the-track chip on my shoulder and love fighting for the blue-collar workers,” says Keith. Co-founding partner Leah Burkhead comes from a family of union pipefitters and is proud of her blue-collar roots, as well. “I’ve been honored to represent and work for so many hardworking people over the last 35-plus years,” says Leah.
Zach Mark practices civil litigation and leads the personal injury law division. Jacob Mark has made a name for himself by bringing that same tenacity and dedication to workers’ compensation. Anna Mark has excelled in workers’ compensation, securing favorable awards for her clients through her fierce representation. Mark & Burkhead takes great distinction in having all members of the firm recognized as Super Lawyers honorees.
The firm is proud to have led the monumental legislative changes to the Kansas Workers’ Compensation Act in 2024. Set in motion by Keith’s triumphs at the Kansas Court of Appeals in the Pardo v. UPS and Weaver v. Unified Government cases, these victories led to the most significant increase in workers’ compensation benefits since its inception. While other firms stopped taking Kansas workers’ compensation cases because of the reduced benefits, the firm not only continued to represent injured workers, they helped fix the law. Mark & Burkhead’s commitment remains steadfast to keep working hard for working folks
