Back in January, we brought you the story of how Quixotic, one of the city’s most unique and successful performing arts groups, was navigating the pandemic—a task to which they were uniquely well-suited given the box-busting nature of the group.
If you need people dancing on the brick walls of Tom’s Town distillery on a hot summer night, they can do that. If you want to see someone twirl in a flaming dress on a dock at Lake Lotawana, they can do that, too. If you need to transform a botanical garden into a surreal fantasy world with the help of two hundred wash lights, lasers, a string quartet and fairies suspended in aerial hammocks, they’ve got you covered. They did all that stuff last year alone.
Starting this week, the group is reviving one of their most successful shows from the past year, Soiree, a rooftop engagement at the Westin Crown Center hotel, with a stunning skyline view as their backdrop.
The fresh-air rooftop show was one of the highlights of the city’s pandemic-addled performing arts calendar. Guests sit at two or four-person tables that have a ten-foot perimeter around each.
“The feel-good energy of the last show had fans/guests emailing us when the next one would be so we worked hard to deliver an all-new series for 2021,” says Anthony Magliano, Founder and Creative Director. “We have new guest artists, all-new performance vignettes, we added more musicians and we are going with a cosmic celestial theme to compliment the city skyline.”
The show opens tomorrow and will run for “most of the summer” before Quixotic heads back indoors for its Sensatia show in the fall.
