After a year of operating their mobile coffee trailer, Pitchside, six KC Current players are bringing their brews to a permanent home in the Crossroads.

Neighbors Coffee + Hospitality (8135 The Paseo Blvd., KCMO, neighborskc.coffee)
Neighbors Coffee + Hospitality is officially open as of last week.
The coffee shop sits in the Marlborough neighborhood of south Kansas City and has a unique mission of helping children aging out of foster care.

Betty Rae’s In Cosentino’s Market (8051 W. 160th St., Overland Park, KS, bettyraes.com)
Betty Rae’s ice cream shop is hosting its grand opening this week for its Cosentino’s Market location in South Overland Park’s Bluhawk development.
Three days of specials are planned, starting with the grand opening on Tuesday, August 19 and lasting through Thursday, August 21. The new Bluhawk Betty Rae’s Ice cream is the ninth area location.
Grand Opening Specials Include:

Sun Fresh (3110 Wabash Ave., KCMO, mysunfresh.com)
Sun Fresh in Kansas City’s East Side closed last week.
The grocery store, that sits in Linwood Shopping Center, covered its sign and put a sign on its doors announcing its closure.
“Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we are no longer, at this time, able to serve the residents of this important community. It has always been our dream and passion to provide quality products and services in a safe, family environment. At this time, unfortunately, we are unable to do that,” the note read.

Bourbon In The Park
Bourbon lovers will have a reason to head to Parkville this fall. On Sunday, Sept. 27, Bourbon in the Park will celebrate Bourbon Heritage Month with an evening of pours, pairings and live music along the Missouri River at English Landing Park.
Presented by Holladay Distillery and Rose Productions, the event will showcase more than 45 premium bourbons from across the country, paired with dishes from Chef Andrew Longres of Acre. General Admission ($77.42, all fees included) includes a Glencairn tasting glass, unlimited bourbon samples and chef-crafted food.

Oktoberfest
Kansas City’s largest locally-owned brewery, Kansas City Bier Company, is gearing up to give KC an Oktoberfest it won’t forget.
KC Oktoberfest is a festival celebrating Bavarian-style bier, food, music and family-friendly activities at Crown Center, which takes place from 5 to 11 pm, Friday, Oct. 3, and from 11 am to 11 pm, Saturday, Oct. 4.
The brewery is also releasing Festbierd this month, the official bier of KC Oktoberfest. Festbierd is a Vienna-Style Lager and KC Bier Company’s best-selling seasonal bier, with 14,260 pints sold at last year’s festival.
