Kansas City grocery stores are expanding on efforts to protect older and immunocompromised shoppers in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
The latest comes from the local stores owned by Ball’s Food Stores. Stores that are part of the chain include Hen House Markets, Pay Less Discount Foods and some Price Chopper and Sun Fresh locations.
Those stores will now open at 6 or 7 am after being sanitized overnight.
The first hour of shopping recommended for the elderly and customers with disabilities.
Likewise, Hy-Vee shops in the area are also keeping special the first hour of the day for older shoppers and the immunocompromised, who are more at risk of serious complications from COVID-19.
Cosentino’s stores, which include other Price Chopper locations and Cosentino’s Markets are reserving 7 to 8 am for at-risk customers.
