Openings

1587 Prime (1500 Baltimore Ave.)

1587 Prime, the modern American steakhouse opening in partnership with hospitality group Noble 33 and Chiefs superstars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, has finally set an opening date. Kind of.

A recent press release states that the much anticipated restaurant will debut this summer.

KC Doner (12350 W. 87th Street Pkwy Lenexa, KS, www.lenexapublicmarket.com)

KC Doner has been popping up and serving authentic Turkish food around KC for the past year. This spring, the food pop-up will open as a vendor at the Lenexa Public Market. 

KC Doner will continue hosting pop-up events at the Public Market throughout April and May as owner and Antioch, Turkey native Sami Jenedi prepares for the move.

Kohinoor (921 McGee St., kohinoorkc.com)

The Latin-inspired cocktail bar and lounge Kohinoor will open next month.

Owned by Jasmine Rios, a first generation Mexican American, Kohinoor sits underneath the downtown Pickwick Plaza Apartments. The upscale bar will feature a cocktail menu featuring tequila and mezcal-based drinks and Latin-influenced small bites. Read more about Kohinoor here.

Cafe Equinox (www.cafeequinox.com)

Inside Family Tree Nursery in Liberty sits the newest Cafe Equinox (830 W. Liberty Drive). The greenhouse coffeeshop operates year-round and features coffee from Thou Mayest Coffee Roasters.

The new site joins two other locations in Shawnee and Overland Park. The Overland Park Cafe Equinox is closed for the season.

Closings

Charisse (1006 Walnut St., http://www.charissekc.com)

Last week, a sign posted on the door of downtown KC restaurant Charisse announced its closure. 

“After many wonderful years of serving our amazing guests, we are closing the door on this chapter of our lives,” the sign read. “It has been an honor to serve you, and we will miss you all. Sorry for the temporary inconvenience while a new spot is envisioned.”

Midtown Bakery Enchante Rebrands 

Enchante bakery changed its name to Soli Deo (3934 Main St.). An Instagram post stated challenges such as break-ins and the ongoing construction on Main Street as the reasons for the change, but according to The Star, Austin Morris acquired the spot. The previous owner was Heather White, who also owns Tailleur and Cheval.

Morris will, for the most part, preserve the space and menu that White created but will also focus on its coffee bar. 

Crossroads Hotel’s Rooftop Bar Percheron Opens For The Season

Percheron, the Crossroads Hotel’s rooftop patio and bar, has officially opened for the spring and summer season (2101 Central St.)

Percheron’s menu features a shareable Mediterranean-inspired food menu offering mezze platters, skewers, lamb tartare and more. The bar’s summer cocktails are creative takes on the classics and includes slushies, palomas, even punch bowls.

Q39 Debuts New Menu

It’s a new era for Q39 as Patrick Peluso takes on the role as Executive Chef. With a new chef comes a new menu.

“Expect brisket meatballs, reinvented BBQ nachos, French-inspired salads, and a smoked BBQ cheesesteak that’s anything but ordinary,” says Kyle Wisecarver, who checked out Q39’s new menu on behalf of Kansas City magazine. “The bar is also getting a seasonal refresh, featuring handcrafted cocktails like the Backyard Peach Tea and a citrusy Bergamot Spritz.”
