Kanssas City nonprofit United WE will celebrate 35 years of championing women leaders at a special May 6 event and Brittany Mahomes will be one of its honorees.

The organization, focused on women’s economic growth and civic leadership, will honor Mahomes with its inaugural Champion for Change Award. “She [Mahomes] is, in short, one of the most impactful women figures in the city right now,” stated the organization in a press release.

Held at CPKC Stadium, the venue is a fitting one for Mahomes. As a co-owner of the Kansas City Current, the organization says she was instrumental in the development of CPKC Stadium, the world’s first stadium built solely for a professional women’s sports team. In a statement, United WE said it recognizes the entrepreneur for “her lasting impact on Kansas City’s culture and economy” and noted that she “continues to build an entrepreneurial portfolio that extends well beyond her famous last name.”

From business execs to policymakers, the hybrid breakfast gathering is expected to welcome approximately 1,000 in-person guests and another 1,000 virtual participants from across the country. The event will also welcome national leaders from a range of industries, including Forbes’ editor-at-large Maneet Ahuja and NFL host (and KC native) Kimmi Chex. DJ Ness, often heard spinning discs at KC Current matches, will bring the energy. Tickets are on sale now.
