All A Glow At KC’s Annual Hot Air Balloon And Puppet Display

Rows of tethered hot air balloons and “puppets” will fire up their burners creating an impressive, colorful display that needs to be seen to be believed.

The National WWI Museum and Memorial and StoneLion Puppet Theatre together are creating one of KC’s brightest summer events: Kansas City’s Great Balloon and Puppet Glow Aug. 19.

The free event begins at 4 pm the public is invited to gather on the Museum and Memorial grounds for this family-friendly event and listen to live music, grab a bite to eat from dozens of local food trucks and picnic. There will also be local craft vendors displaying their wares.

As the sun sets, organizers promise to light up the night sky with vibrant displays of blow-up puppets and colorful hot air balloons. The hot air balloons won’t take off but will be on display at the North Lawn and on the south side of the Museum and Memorial. New this year on the south side, illuminated puppets, aerialists and glow performers will take you on a journey “around the world in 80 days.”
