Today is Terez A. Paylor day in Kansas City, a celebration of the sportswriter’s legacy that will be marked at tonight’s Chiefs game and, forever, with a scholarship at Howard University.
Paylor passed away unexpectedly in February.
Today, Mayor Quinton Lucas issued a proclamation in honor of the beloved Star and Yahoo Sports reporter for the “legacy of service, mentorship, and exceptional sports journalism that he leaves behind.”
It's Terez Paylor Day today in Kansas City, so "seize the day, like he did every … single … day.
Take some extra steps nobody knows about but you.
Try to be the great teammate he always was.
Listen, really listen."

The Kansas City Chiefs will also celebrate the day by holding a ceremony Friday night at Arrowhead Stadium before their game against the Minnesota Vikings. The Chiefs plan to honor Paylor by retiring his press box seat and presenting a check for the Terez A. Paylor Scholarship.
The scholarship will support future sports journalists at Howard University, Paylor’s alma mater.
“Terez A. Paylor’s legacy will live forever. Now that we have crossed $100,000 in contributions to his scholarship at Howard University it has reached endowment status. This means the scholarship will never go away and will fund future sports journalists with a 3.0 GPA for many generations to come. I’m grateful to the Kansas City community for its support.” said Paylor’s fiancee, Ebony Reed.
