Celebrate National Bourbon Day at Missouri’s Oldest Distillery

As summer kicks into high gear and Father’s Day approaches, there’s no better place to toast both occasions than at Holladay Distillery in Weston, Missouri. On Saturday, June 14—National Bourbon Day—Holladay will release a special distillery-exclusive bottling of its limited-edition Ben Holladay 8-Year One Barrel Bourbon.

This much-anticipated release is the result of eight patient years of aging inside the legendary ironclad rickhouses at Holladay. Master Distiller Kyle Merklein personally selected a limited number of standout barrels from Rickhouse C, with proofs ranging between 117 and 125. Each bottle is unique, telling a rich story influenced by its age, rickhouse floor, and proof. These highly coveted bottles are already arriving in select markets across the US—but bourbon fans in Kansas City have the rare opportunity to grab one right at the source.

This release recently earned a Double Platinum from the 2025 ASCOT Awards, one of the highest honors in the international spirits world. Curated by whiskey expert Fred Minnick, the ASCOT Awards named the 8-Year One Barrel as “outstanding,” a rare distinction that means it was one of just a few spirits to make it to the prestigious Championship Round. Tasting notes included “lovely custard, vanilla notes with toasted buttery aromas,” and a “warm peppery finish.” Simply put–it’s delicious.

The June 14 event is more than just a release, it’s a celebration. Expect live music, barbecue, and craft cocktails in a historic setting that dates to 1856. With local bourbon lovers buzzing, early lines, and a same-day sellout are likely. For Father’s Day gift hunters, it’s a golden opportunity to surprise dad with something truly exceptional, or even better, enjoy the day together with a drink in hand.

While you’re there, don’t miss a peek at history in the making: Holladay’s newest rickhouse is currently under construction, the first built on-site since 1950. Set to open this fall, Rickhouse D will expand Holladay’s aging capacity by 11,000 barrels, preserving the legacy of Missouri’s only ironclad rickhouses and meeting surging demand for the distillery’s award-winning bourbons.

After resuming bourbon production in 2015 and launching its flagship Ben Holladay Bourbon in 2022, Holladay has become a standout in American whiskey. Its recent innovations—including the Soft Red Wheat Bourbon and Rickhouse Proof releases—have only deepened its reputation for crafting high-quality, authentic bourbon.

National Bourbon Day is Saturday, June 14th and Father’s Day following on Sunday the 15th, so whether you’re a collector, a connoisseur, or simply looking for a spirited way to celebrate, head to Weston to experience the rich heritage and bold flavor of Holladay Bourbon—straight from the source.
