Nick the Greek is celebrating National Gyro Day (Sept. 1) with one heck of a deal. This Friday, all locations of the Greek restaurant chain will be offering buy one gyro, get one 50 percent off.
The metro’s first Nick the Greek restaurant opened in Olathe (14321 135 St. Olathe, KS) last year. The chain recently opened its second Kansas City area location in the Ward Parkway Restaurant Pavilion (8807 State Line Rd., KCMO). The newest spot has been racking up great reviews on Yelp with special shout outs to the patio seating and sizable gyros.
The fast-casual restaurant vertically roasts their gyro meats of lamb, beef, chicken and pork belly in-house daily. The meats are then topped with fries, tomatoes, onion and tzatziki or mustard sauce and stuffed into a soft, baked pita.
Beyond the handheld pita sandwiches (Greece’s most popular street food), customers can also choose from hearty gyro bowls, salads, souvlaki (skewered marinated meats) and Greek fries. Dessert options include baklava and frozen Greek yogurt.
Nick the Greek was founded in 2014 in Northern California by three cousins – Big Nick, Little Nick and Baby Nick – and has since expanded to include outposts in Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Kansas, Texas, and now, Missouri.
