SW19 at the Stadium (9119 East 39th St.)

KC has a new premier pickleball destination.

SW19 at the Stadium, a brand new $6.5 million pickleball facility located in Kansas City’s Stadium Corridor is officially open. Featuring eight indoor courts, a full-service bar and restaurant, a coffee shop and event spaces, the facility will serve as the official home of the Kansas City Stingers, the city’s professional pickleball team.

Margaritaville Hotel Kansas City (1491 N. 98th Terr., KCK)

The resort-style destination is now open for overnight stays, featuring 228 guest rooms, indoor and outdoor pools, dining venues, and over 14,000 square feet of event space.

The Margaritaville hotel features two bar-and-grills, a coffee shop and lobby bar. 

The hotel’s outdoor amenities are centered around a large zero-entry pool, complete with in-water seating, a waterslide, fire pits, hammocks, lawn games, and private cabanas equipped with ceiling fans, TVs and mini refrigerators. Day passes are also available for non-hotel guests, offering access to both the indoor and outdoor pools – priced at $60 for adults and $20 for children ages 4–12. Private cabanas are also available to rent.

Two Birds One Stone (1000 E. Riverfront Dr.)

The highly anticipated Two Birds One Stone beer garden is finally open. 

Stationed on the waterfront directly across from the Origin Hotel and just steps away from the CPKC, Two Birds One Stone is a nearly 8,200 square foot, two-story structure housed on half an acre inside the portion of the park known as “The Grove.” 

The beer garden features a full bar, soon-to-come upstairs cocktail lounge and a stage for live music.

Closings

Smallcakes (6127 NW 63rd Terr.)

Overland Park-born chain Smallcakes announced its imminent closure on social media, citing rising food costs as the reason. The cupcake shop will close June 28.

“This was not an easy decision,” the post states. “It’s incredibly bittersweet. We’re heartbroken to say goodbye … but also excited for what’s ahead.”
