Michael and Christina Corvino, the husband-wife team behind Corvino Supper Club & Tasting Room, announced plans to open a casual lunch spin-off called Ravenous back in the spring.
The original plan was to open Ravenous in June inside the ParC at Corrigan Station, next door to their eponymous restaurant in the Crossroads Art District, with a walk-up counter for ordering and ample outdoor seating.
Sadly, construction challenges delayed the opening. Summer rolled into fall, fall gave way to winter – and still, no Ravenous.
Until today.
The Corvinos unveiled Ravenous in a soft opening for lunch on Tuesday. The menu from one of the city’s best chefs focuses on sandwiches: There is the signature cheeseburger — thin, diner-style chuck patties smashed between a house-made sesame seed bun with garlic aioli, charred onions, dill pickle slices and muenster cheese (a single for $7, double for $9) — plus a fried chicken sandwich ($8), a rock shrimp sandwich ($12), a vegetarian mushroom sandwich ($9) and a grilled cheese with tomatoes ($6). You can also get a half or whole order of the Corvino fried chicken ($20/$35).
There are some tempting sides, too: parmesan Bolognese fries ($6), cheesy chili butter tater tots ($6), broccoli salad with tofu and puffed barley ($6) and carrot and avocado salad ($6). Beverage options include old-fashioned malts – you can go with a classic vanilla or chocolate ($6) or treat yourself to the cookies and cream malt with black truffle ($20).
A grand opening for Ravenous will come in the spring. Until then, food from Ravenous is available for take-out only – you can order online at ravenouskc.com and pick up inside Corvino Supper Club or schedule delivery via DoorDash. Winter hours for Ravenous are Monday through Friday, 11 am to 2 pm.
