Ghouls: a Halloween Pop-up Bar
KC favorite KC Wine Co is hosting a Halloween-themed pop-up bar throughout the fall with fun photo opps and signature themed cocktails like the Hallow-Rita or Caramel Apple Sangria. There will also be a selection of wines, hard ciders, beers, a wine flight and candy pairing, snacks like Pretzels, charcuterie and flatbread pizzas.

Renaissance Festival
Starting as a small benefit for the Kansas City Art Institute in 1977, the Renaissance Festival has blossomed into one of the city’s most-beloved events, drawing nearly a quarter of a million visitors each year willing to let their freak flag fly. Transport yourself into a long-bygone era with live jousting performances, giant turkey legs and men in tights.

Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill
Come experience the life and songs of Billie Holiday like never before in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill, with songs like “Strange Fruit” and “God Bless the Child” and scenes based off of many of her true life events.

Goodnight Moon
Based on the beloved children’s book of the same name, Goodnight Moon is adapted for the stage by Chad Henry. This family-friendly musical features favorite characters like the three bears sitting in chairs, the cow jumping over the moon and the Tooth Fairy.

Unforgettable
Kansas City Jazz Orchestra’s season opening concert is Unforgettable, featuring Sachal Vasandani, a critically acclaimed and widely admired jazz vocalist who blends contemporary sensibilities with an old crooner’s soul.

History That Doesn’t Suck!
Dr. Greg Jackson, creator and host of the popular History That Doesn’t Suck! podcast kicks off his tour in Lawrence. This unique show has elements of drama, comedy and musical theater, that fuses storytelling with live music and staging to take the audience through the first 100 years of America’s history in 100 minutes.

Alice (in Wonderland)
This October, Kansas City Ballet is ready to send you down the rabbit hole and straight to wonderland. With choreography by Septime Webre, music written by Matthew Pierce and performed by the Kansas City Symphony, this surreal performance of Alice (in Wonderland) adds a new modern twist to Lewis Carroll’s classic tale, blending ballet and contemporary dance to bring new life to the characters and story. Audience members are welcome to come to the Belger Footnotes an hour before the curtain opens to learn even more about the show’s creation and the details that make it truly magical, if a bit mad.

Heartland Book Festival
If you’re tempted to skip festivals to just stay home to read a good book, then it might be time to give the Heartland Book Festival a try. Located at Kansas City’s Central Library, this collaboration between the Kansas City Public Library, Missouri Humanities and the Missouri Center for the Book aims to celebrate all things literature. From visiting authors and panel discussions to writing workshops, this fest is perfect for readers and writers of all levels of expertise.

3rd annual Arts & Craft Fair
Beautiful and quaint Parkville is having their third annual Arts & Crafts fair this weekend, just in time for autumnal fun. Featuring arts, crafts, jewelry, food, music and more, this is a fall family event that isn’t to be missed.

7th Annual South KC Block Party
The 7th Annual South KC Block Party presented by the Red Bridge Shopping Center is a free, family-friendly event featuring live performances, food trucks and booths from local vendors. There will also be pop-ups, a giveaway, kid activities like face painting, artisan vendors from KC Black-Owned and Art Garden KC and a special appearance by KC Wolf, the beloved Kansas City Chiefs mascot.

Fall Fest at Zona Rosa

Atmosphere
Legendary Minneapolis hip-hop pioneers Atmosphere are hitting KC in support of their latest release, Talk Talk EP, which came out last year. In the more than two decades as a duo, they have built a legacy that is woven into the very foundational fabric of underground hip-hop.

David Spade
Actor and comedian David Spade has been a household name for decades, rising to fame as a cast member for five seasons on SNL and in subsequent TV shows and films spanning the past 30 years, like Just Shoot Me and Emperor’s New Groove. Still appearing on both large and small screens, Spade is proving that his humor is timeless with the Catch Me Inside tour, in which the tour name is based on a meme from about eight years ago.

Michigander
Midwestern songwriter’s Jason Smith has been Michigander for a decade and has gained widespread popularity with hits like “Nineties,” “Better” and “Let Down.” Michigander is best known for nostalgia-driven and earnest lyricism; on tour they’re backed by a full rocking band.
