Terra Luna
Immerse yourself in the Overland Park Arboretum via a guided multimedia experience curated by none other than Quixotic Entertainment. Stroll through the gardens while taking in the live music, light displays and dancers in avant-garde costuming. Take time before you enter the magic of this futuristic event to enjoy food and beverage trucks at the Visitor Center.

Tiny Explorers Stroller Adventures
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art offers a free monthly program for children under two and their guardians, allowing them to explore and discover art at an early age. The program includes guided gallery tours and hands-on activities that are meant to spark kids’ curiosity and creativity.

Local Thursdays: Jamogi and the Jammers
Each Thursday night through October, Manor Records spotlights KC musicians at J. Rieger with concert series Local Thursdays. This week, funk band Jamogi and the Jammers performs for a good cause—the group is collecting children’s books to donate to local non-profit Reach Out and Read.

Crossroads Music Festival
The 22nd annual Crossroads Music Festival in the West Bottoms—yes, you read that right—will feature more than 25 performances from local artists. From spinning DJs and jazz trios to indie-rock and folk singers, there is something for everyone. This year’s festival is headlined by Amanda Fish and Womanish Girl. There will also be kid-friendly activities and treats such as face painting and snowcones.

Kansas City Underground Film Festival
The Kansas City Underground Film Festival showcases new, independent movies from both local and international filmmakers. Spanning a wide range of genres, among this year’s selections includes Kansas, 1989, a project filmed in KC that follows an LGBTQ+ Midwestern teen on the verge of coming out. Along with free screenings, the festival organizes Q&As and other educational programming.

Hatch Chile Fest
Char Bar celebrates hatch chile season with a weekend full of festivities. Now returning for its fourth year, enjoy spirit tastings from Mean Mule Distilling Co., music, special food and drink menus and chile roasting at the Westport barbecue joint.

Eureka Day
When this comical, satirical play made its Off-Broadway debut in 2019, no one anticipated how timely it would soon become. The Tony Award-winning play follows a mumps outbreak at Eureka Day School, moving the Board of Directors to reconsider its vaccination policy. It soon becomes apparent that, no matter the decision, not everyone will be satisfied with the new guidelines. This Kansas City Actors Theatre production stars Teisha M. Bankston, John Rensenhouse, and Cinnamon Schultz.

Dance in the Park
Dance in the Park, presented by City in Motion Dance Theatre, will feature both local youth and professional dance performances. Returning for its 27th year, this free outdoor event includes a wide variety of styles including contemporary and cultural dance.

Prairie Village Jazz Festival
This all-local jazz fest returns for its 15th year, and for just $5, audiences can listen to five bands throughout the course of the day. This year’s lineup includes performances from trumpeter Nick Hmeljak, saxophonist Stephen Martin, soul band The Freedom Affair and more.

Crossroads Flea
Mildred’s neighborhood market returns for the fall season. Inspired by New York’s bustling Brooklyn Flea, the morning market—held each second Sunday through November—features antiques, vintage wares, local produce, artisan made goods and more. Fuel up on the café’s beloved breakfast sandwiches (and coffee, of course) and shop away.

Art Westport
The 46th annual Art Westport is the KC’s oldest art show that exclusively showcases local creatives, with arts and crafts by the city’s top talent. From sculpture to ceramics to oil paintings, you’ll find a bit of everything at this festival. In addition to the artist booths, enjoy live music, food and hands-on activities for children.

Come From Away
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11, KCRep opens its 2026–27 season with a Tony Award-winning musical based on the terrorist attack. Come From Away, set in the Canadian town of Gander, follows the story of the 7,000 rerouted airline passengers and the small town’s outpouring of support.

KC Renaissance Festival
Take a step back in time at Kansas City’s Renaissance Festival. The annual fair transports visitors to the Renaissance with cosplay, costumes and live entertainment such as jousting matches and folk music. There will be food and drinks, handmade goods and immersive activities throughout the festival, enhancing the creative and playful atmosphere.

Mini Golf At The Museum
It’s back! Art Course offers an artist-designed mini-golf adventure within the Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park at the Nelson-Atkins Museum. Play nine unique holes, each offering a creative spin on a masterpiece from the museum’s collection.
