Don’t Worry, The Hen House In Fairway Isn’t Closing

Tomorrow, Jan. 25, the Hen House in the Fairway neighborhood (2724 W. 53rd St., Fairway, KS), will close. But not for long.

Despite rumors swirling that the grocery store is closing permanently, a recent press release says the closure is only to make way for a “glow up.” That means the store is working on a design to elevate the shoppers experience by reworking its departments and even adding one.

The store is slated to reopen Saturday, Feb. 7.

During the brief closure, Hen House will reimagine several departments, such as the delicatessen, the food bar, European-inspired bakery and produce department.

One of the most significant upgrades, however, will be seen in the new Apothecary, which promises to have more than 1,000 new “better-for-you” products. The Apothecary is a modern take on a traditional wellness shop, offering superfoods, functional beverages, nutraceuticals, and specialty pantry items with an emphasis on local and regional brands.

Hen House Market is operated by Balls Food Stores, a Kansas City–based company that has served the region for more than a century.
