KC funky dive bar is reopening with a fresh new look and an extensive food and drink menu.

The House, a little blue dive bar that sits right next to Lulu’s Thai Noodle Shop’s Westwood location (2707 W. 47th Ave. Westwood, KS), will open Friday September 8. After knocking down a wall for more bar space and giving the space a “refreshed look and feel”, The House will now serve Lulu’s Thai Noodle Shop’s full drink and food menu.

“I’ve always loved the community feel in Westwood and am so thrilled to reopen our tiny little neighborhood bar,” says Malisa Monyakula, owner Lulu and The Bar.

The House is Lulu’s sister business. When the bar opened in 2021, it just served beer, wine and mixed drinks.

The quirky neighborhood bar is small and seats twenty inside. The interior has been fitted with “funky furniture and decor to match the quaint and quirky vibe it’s known for.” Customers can choose vintage records for the staff to spin on Monyakula’s childhood record players.

Outside the bar is a fire pit and enough outdoor seating to seat fifty.

“As a small, women-owned business, we’re always looking for ways to support other small local businesses so we’re very excited to feature local artist’s work at The House. Every one to two months, we’ll switch out the artwork to feature another local artist,” Monyakula says. “We want this to be a gathering place where everyone feels at home and welcome to come relax with a yard beer and enjoy vintage records.”

The House is open Fridays and Saturdays 5-11PM and Sundays 2-9PM.
