At 6 p.m. this Friday at the Kauffman Center, TEDxKC will have a lineup of ten speakers whose expertise range from a sky full of stars to the key to happiness to a MacArthur Genius. The theme is “Emerge. Breaking Through. Branching Out.” and all ten speakers are sure to deliver.

TEDxKC is “one of the largest independently organized TED events in the world,” and has historically made quite the impact in Kansas City. TEDxKC talks from years prior have resulted in a cancer center, a highly-funded nonprofit, and a speaker twice invited to close the annual TED conference—quite the honor.

This year’s lineup includes Arthur Brooks, Majora Carter, Karen Faith, Bettymaya Foott, Jonathan Friedman, Lyla June, Alexandra Lockwood, Carolyn Buck Luce, Katie Randall and Taylor Sullivan.

An after-party will take place on the Kauffman Center’s front lawn with live music, complimentary beverages, art displays and “one-of-a-kind” activities. A nonprofit showcase at the after-party will also allow attendees to enrich themselves even further by interacting with some of Kansas City’s most charitable organizations.

These include the American Public Square, The Dog Grooming Project, Rightfully Sewn, StoneLion Puppets, Veterans Community Project, Wayside Waifs and WeCode KC.
