Here are nine great things to do in KC this weekend, July 6-9, including: two nights of Taylor Swift at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, Legally Blonde the musical and pop-rock duo Sparks.

‘No ticket, no problem’ Taylor Swift experience

In partnership with Empress Gin, rooftop bar Percheron will be offering a ‘No ticket, no problem’ Taylor Swift experience. This includes Lavender Haze cocktails with Empress Gin, Eras inspired DJ sets with DJ Ness and Cale Parks, floral photo opps and guests are encouraged to wear Eras inspired outfits.

Crown Center’s WeekEnder series

Crown Center’s free family event series kicks off this weekend with a live musical performance by The Vincents and an outdoor screening of Top Gun: Maverick. There will also be food trucks and beverages available for purchase and guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to watch the film under the stars.

Taylor Swift

Mega popstar Taylor Swift made headlines last fall following the announcement of her highly sought after Eras tour, when scalpers’ reselling caused prices to balloon for hopeful fans and lawsuits were filed over Ticketmaster’s price-gouging. The dust has settled, and Swift’s performing a two-night stint at Arrowhead, where she previously played in 2011 and 2018. Now, she will be performing all the hits from her repertoire.

Heather Land

Sassy Southern comedian Heather Land is coming to KC in support of her newest collection of hilarious and unfiltered essays, A Perfect 10. This collection is a follow up to her 2019 collection of essays I Ain’t Doin’ It, which she muses on Southern living and life’s problems.

July 7. 8 pm. Uptown Theater.

Legally Blonde

This fun award-winning musical is based off the film of the same name. Legally Blonde the musical follows the transformation of sorority girl Elle Woods as she faces adversity in pursuit of her dreams.

The Philistines

Formed in KC in 2013, psych-rock band The Philistines return to recordBar. Nathan Corsi & My Atomic Daydream are joining in support of and to celebrate the release of their debut album with band Friendly Thieves opening the jam-packed night of music.

July 8. 7 pm. recordBar.

Sparks

Pop-rock duo formed by brothers Ron and Russell Mael, Sparks, is coming to KC in support of their newest album, The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte. The band is best known for their quirky approach to songwriting with songs like “This Town Ain’t Big Enough For The Both Of Us” and “Beat The Clock.”

The Emo Night Tour

Starting nearly a decade ago in an East L.A. bar,  Emo Night quickly became wildly popular with aging millennials. The now-national tour plays hits from early 2000’s pop-punk bands like Good Charlotte and My Chemical Romance for now-thirty-year-olds who got bullied in middle school and made it their entire personality.

Art Garden KC 

Free family and pet-friendly Art Garden KC Sundays are back for the summer season. Now at a new location, there will be a Healing Garden & Game Garden to accompany the local vendor market, which includes over seventy local artists and makers, as well as live music, food trucks, yoga classes, yard games and kids’ activities.
