Parrotheads Rejoice: Margaritaville KC Opens

As they say, “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere,” and that somewhere is now Kansas City.

The new Margaritaville Hotel officially opened its doors on June 17, bringing a tropical escape to KCK,  just across I-435 from the Kansas Speedway (1491 N. 98th Terrace).

Led by seasoned General Manager Zac Alft, the hope is for the new Margaritaville to be a place where guests can “waste away” in true Jimmy Buffett style.

“Our goal is to create an atmosphere where guests can relax, reconnect and enjoy great food without having to leave the property,” says Alft. “Everything – from the music to the menu – is designed to reflect that easygoing, come-as-you-are spirit.”

With 228 guest rooms, 11 suites, island-inspired dining and bar options, indoor and outdoor pools and more than 14,000 square feet of event space, the six-story building is looking to be just that.

There is also a fitness center, live music, a family entertainment center and a rock climbing wall and obstacle course. So whether it’s a weekend getaway, family fun or a business retreat, Margaritaville Hotel Kansas City is the closest thing you’ll get to a beach vacation without boarding a plane, promise Margaritaville hotel staff.

“This isn’t just a hotel – it’s a destination,” says Greg Maday, co-owner of Homefield KC, who developed the property in collaboration with Sunflower Development Group and Margaritaville. “We wanted to create something that brings a true resort-style experience to Kansas City, and Margaritaville’s energy, design and approach to fun are a perfect fit for this area.”
