Openings
Jade Jaguar
Big changes are coming to 18th Street in the Crossroads.
This fall, Bar Medici will officially close its doors to make room for a new concept: Jade Jaguar, a vibrant, Mexico City–inspired cocktail bar set to open mid-October. To read more about what to expect from Jade Jaguar, read here.
1587 Prime (1500 Baltimore Ave., KCMO, 1587prime.com)
1587 Prime, the steakhouse created by Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and hospitality group Noble 33 will officially open its doors September 17.
Reservations opened to the public August 20 with availability through November. All tables were spoken for within just a few hours. (It’s possible you, like myself, had to continue to refresh the reservations page only to be met with a “Sorry, we’re completely booked for that time,” despite looking well into October for a date)
But here’s a bit about what you can expect from the steakhouse: Executive Chef Ryan Arnold has created a menu that reimagines steakhouse classics, from a 40 oz Wagyu tomahawk to the “Mahomes Ketchup Flight” (Mahomes famously admitted to putting ketchup on his steaks, which caused controversy all over the web) alongside dishes like togarashi fried chicken and truffle-laced twice-baked potatoes. Beverage director Juan Carlos Santana, a Michelin Guide-recognized mixologist, has created a bar program that includes a martini cart and craft cocktails.
1587 Prime has partnered with local brands like Shatto Milk, Betty Rae’s, Farm to Market Bread and Boulevard Brewing. The dining rooms include 238 seats, a central bar.
The restaurant will operate Tuesday through Sunday evenings starting October 7.
Meat Rushmore (1 Kansas City Blvd., KCMO)
KCAI has welcomed a new barbecue restaurant.
Meat Rushmore, the champions of the “Made for KC Barbecue Championship,” has opened in Terminal T, offering travelers a taste of KC barbecue. The restaurant features brisket and pulled-pork breakfast burritos thanks to two offset smokers. Their airport residency spans the next 18 months, just in time to welcome international soccer fans when the World Cup comes to town.
Closing
Crane Brewery (6515 Railroad St, Raytown, MO)
After more than a decade, Crane Brewing in Raytown has closed its doors.
According the The Star, the reason for the brewery’s closing is unknown, with no notice or comment from the current owner, only knowledge that it has not been open for business for the past several weeks.
