Live + Local
Shining a light on the KC bands that are applying to NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest, Live+Local is a showcase for independent and undiscovered artists. A partnership between NPR stations KCUR 89.3 and The Bridge 90.9, the performance will feature Jass and Jamogi & The Jammers.

Last year, vocal jazz supergroup säje’s recording career started off strong, taking home a Grammy win for their debut album. The quartet—a collaborative effort between Erin Bentlage, Sara Gazarek, Johnaye Kendrick and Amanda Taylor—makes the complex sound effortless for a rich and butter-smooth sound. Their performance is part of the Folly Jazz Series.

Hannibal Buress
Over a decade ago, comic Hannibal Buress made waves in a stand-up routine that helped bring sexual assault allegations against Bill Cosby to the public eye. Throughout his career, the multi-talented comic has racked up an extensive list of credits as a former writer for 30 Rock and an actor in series like The Eric André Show and Broad City. Unapologetically honest and self-assured, Burress will offer a night of laughs.

Sensatia
Kansas City-born and internationally renowned performance art collective Quixotic brings an interactive multimedia performance this winter. Blending acrobatics, futuristic visuals, live music, and perfumery, Sensatia promises a wildly unique sensory experience. This weekend marks the opening weekend of the original production.

Orchid Delirium
A stunning and vibrant display awaits at Powell Gardens’ Orchid Delirium. Originally launched in 2022, the annual indoor exhibit showcases hundreds of alternating blooms from the garden’s extensive 2,000-piece orchid collection.

Rock is Black
Singer-songwriter Malek Azrael is honoring the profound contributions of Black musicians to rock and roll, featuring a robust line-up of KC talent. Alongside Azrael, featured performers include Frankie Shorez and Mercy Fire, Stephonne and Jamogi & the Jammerz.

Little Women The Musical
Music Theater Heritage’s production of Little Women brings the classic Louisa May Alcott novel to the stage in a heartfelt musical adaptation. The empowering coming-of-age story follows the March sisters as they navigate love, loss and ambition amid the Civil War.

Stanislav and Friends
Each spring, pianist Stanislav Ioudenitch––founder and artistic director of Park University’s International Center for Music––is joined by world-class colleagues, friends and protégés for the conservatory’s biggest show of the year. This year’s program, Echoes of Spain, includes a piano arrangement of Maurice Ravel’s Boléro and Manuel de Falla’s Suite Populaire Espagnole. Ioudenitch is highly regarded as a champion of the classical world for his 2001 win at the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, comparable to the Super Bowl for concert pianists.

Always and Forever featuring Lucy Wijnands and Bram Wijnands
NYC-based jazz singer Lucy Wijnands is returning to her hometown of KC for a special father-daughter performance with her favorite pianist, Bram Wijnands. Wijnands’ vintage, crystal-clear voice will be backed by the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra to deliver a heartwarming evening of jazz standards and show tunes.

A Match Made in Heaven
St. Louis artist Katherine Bernhardt and KC fashion designer Jeremy Scott come together for a vibrant exhibit at Overland Park’s Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art. Scott, the designer behind Katy Perry’s iconic Met Gala burger look, will showcase over 100 looks alongside over 35 of Bernhardt’s bold paintings in the newly-opened exhibit, A Match Made in Heaven.
