The waterfront district taking shape along the Missouri River near CPKC Stadium officially has a name: Current Landing.

The name was announced this week by the Kansas City Current alongside Palmer Square Real Estate Management and Marquee Development, the teams behind the mixed-use development just north of downtown.

With the stadium already drawing crowds to the riverfront, Current Landing marks the next chapter in the area’s transformation, whose broader plan calls for a walkable river-oriented neighborhood that combines housing, dining, public space and entertainment.

Construction has now begun on a more than two-acre town square immediately adjacent to the stadium. While the area surrounding CPKC is already bustling on game days, the new square aims to channel that energy into a permanent gathering space for watch parties and festivals, with an eye toward World Cup-related events.

Current Landing’s first two apartment buildings, River’s Edge and Confluence, are scheduled to begin pre-leasing on January 12 in the new year, with move-ins planned for early spring. The buildings will offer sweeping views of the river and stadium and direct connections to riverfront trails, green space and the future KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension. More than ten restaurants and bars are planned, with chef and concept announcements expected to roll out also beginning in January.
