Chappell’s
Chappell’s (323 Armour Road, Kansas City, Mo. 816-421-0002, chappellsnkc.com) in North Kansas City is a sports fanatic’s dream — an entire bar filled with memorabilia collected by original owner Jim Chappell.
Among the collection is a rare sweatshirt bearing the name of the Dallas Texans (today’s Kansas City Chiefs) signed by Len Dawson and boxing gloves autographed by Muhammad Ali.
Chappell’s opened in 1986 and has been recognized by Sports Illustrated. Chappell himself was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.
Chappell retired last year and sold the bar, but you can still sometimes find him bellied up to the bar.
