‘Victorian parlor’ Halloween pop-up bar now open in Westport

A Halloween pop-up bar modeled after a Victorian parlor has just arrived in the Westport neighborhood.

“It’s meant to tell a story and leave an impression,” says Julep owner, Keely Edgington. “You’ll feel like you’ve just entered the space after a seance has gone awry.”

Something Wicked is located in the back lounge area of Julep. The lounge has been transformed into a haunted Victorian-era parlor with vintage books on witchcraft and magic, tarot cards and candlelight. Plus, there’s an indoor and outdoor space for you to enjoy the limited-time cocktail menu.

The popup menu will feature cocktails like New Moon, a black Manhattan with a clear ice sphere to mimic the moon and Wake the Dead, a cedar-smoked gin martini. There will be the Witches Brew, a bubbling cocktail made in a coffee siphon. The apple cider whiskey drink will be spiced and served in black teacups with gold detailing. There’s also Cerridwen’s Potion, a pear and lemon vodka drink with butterfly tea flower that changes color.

The vintage seance experience requires a reservation, which you can make through Instagram (@somethingwickedkc). The eerie parlor space will be open Wednesday-Sunday, now through Halloween. Hours vary depending on the day of the week. If you’re looking for a witchy vibe that’s more goth than gore, this is the one for you.
