It’s an event fifty years in the making: Your Kansas City Chiefs are back in the Super Bowl for the first time since the Nixon administration. A year after an overtime loss to the Patriots, the high-flying Chiefs carved up the brutish Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship game, for the first time claiming the trophy named for team founder Lamar Hunt. The Titans are who we thought they were—here’s hoping the Chiefs can likewise outgun a San Francisco Forty-Niners squad built from a stout defense and a run game powered by Coach Kyle Shanahan’s inherited zone-blocking scheme. The main event is slated for Sunday, Feb. 2 at 5:30 pm in Miami and airs on Fox—yes that means we have to suffer through a Joe Buck broadcast instead of being treated to more Tony Romo.
