Crossroads Hotel is hosting another curated nightlife shopping experience and cultural showcase. This time, the event will spotlight several of the city’s Black-owned brands as we continue to celebrate Black History Month. You’ll be able to shop local artisans and vendors while listening to local DJs.

Swing Dance at Nimble Brewery
The local microbrewery in the Crossroads is offering free beginner swing dance lessons this week. The event will be put on by 627 Stomp KC, a local non-profit dedicated to preserving the rich history of KC jazz culture.

BLK: A “Mini” Showcase
Hilari Holt—native KC actor and model—is hosting a mini variety showcase at The Bird in the Crossroads this Friday. The showcase will give a taste of Black talent in Kansas City and feature stand-up, puppetry, improv and more.

JB Jazz at Whole Foods
Just when you thought Whole Foods couldn’t get any better, now you can enjoy live jazz music while shopping for ingredients to make your Friday night charcuterie board. Singer Joanna Berkebile will be backed by Jerry Pollock on drums, Leslie Maclean on keys and Brandon Day on bass. And if you like what you hear, you can stay awhile at Whole Foods’ new bar.

Black History Tribute Pop-Up
Kinship Cafe is hosting a pop-up with local Black merchants and vendors this weekend in honor of Black History Month. 10% of the proceeds will go to Black Excellence KC, a cross-generational organization that connects, develops and retains Black Kansas City.

Art is Essential | 39th Annual Art Auction
Art collectors and enthusiasts, this one is for you. Hundreds of pieces of art donated by the region’s best artists will be on display and auctioned this weekend. The work featured will come from both established and emerging artists. Beer, wine and light eats will be provided with ticket purchase.

Black History Tribute Concert: Journey Through Black Music
The American Jazz Museum is hosting a live tribute concert for iconic Black musicians like Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Sam Cooke and more. You’ll hear selections from jazz, R&B, gospel, blues and contemporary sounds while exploring the evolution of music in the Black community with several talented local artists.
